Argos apologises after website glitch thwarts shoppers

A three for the price of two toy offer should have had Argos tills ringing at the weekend, but instead an online glitch left shoppers angry and forced the retailer to apologise.

Customers complained the catalogue store's website was out of action for much of Sunday, with shoppers stuck in an online queue or faced with a screen bearing a red traffic light and an "our systems are currently unavailable" message.

Apologising for what it termed the "temporary service issues", Argos assured customers it had now identified and fixed the problem.
