Four years after it went into administration, home furnishings brand Habitat is on the up once again.
The company, which was bought out by Argos and Homebase owner Home Retail Group after its collapse in 2008, plans to increase its floor space by a quarter after a period of strong growth.
Since its acquisition by Home Retail, the brand has operated as a concession, mainly in Homebase stores. The number of concessions has grown from 35 to 65 in the financial year to date, and Habitat plans to open another 15 before the end of December.
It is also undertaking a £1 million refurbishment of its flagship store in London's Tottenham Court Road and investing a further £1 million in revamping its website to strengthen its online offering.
