It may not feel like it, but we are apparently paying up to 40 percent less for some grocery basics than we did a year ago.
Research by the MySupermarket.co.uk shopping comparison site revealed that a shopping basket of 35 popular grocery products cost £82.78 in April, compared to £86.69 during the same month a year ago.
The price of broccoli had fallen 39 percent year-on-year, onions were 18 percent cheaper and peppers cost 16 percent less.
MySupermarket.co.uk said the continuing supermarket price wars were keeping prices competitive across the sector but urged shoppers to remain vigilant to ensure they got the best deals, as prices could change daily.
