A new survey has found retailers entering the Christmas period with high hopes of a profitable festive season.
The research carried out by Barclays Bank revealed that 79 percent of retailers interviewed as part of the study expected income to increase during the festive period - seven percent more than last year. An optimistic 14 percent expected income to be up ten percent or more.
Seventy-seven percent of retailers questioned planned to hold a promotion as part of Black Friday on November 27 - four percent more than 12 months earlier - fuelling hopes that the event will become the UK's first £1 billion online shopping day.
