The battle for festive trade is hotting up, with new research revealing two thirds of high street retailers are planning sales or special promotions this week.
A survey of 100 high street retailers undertaken by accounting firm Price Waterhouse Cooper found 64% were running offers, such as 3 for 2. This marks an increase of two percent on the number who held sales last week.
On average, prices are being discounted by 35%, compared to 39% during the same pre-Christmas period last year and 42% in 2013.
