The company has been acquired by US private equity backed Marquee Brands.
Established in 1963, Ben Sherman shirts soon acquired a cult following, worn by the likes of Roger Daltrey from The Who.
The brand remained popular through the 60s and 70s into the early 80s, when it was worn by mod influenced bands such as The Jam, The Specials and Madness but lost favour later in the decade. It's fortunes revived in the 90s, when it was rediscovered by Britpop band such as Blur and Oasis.
However, it has endured a torrid time of late, losing £7million last year.
