House proud Brits boost Dunelm sales

Homeware retailer Dunelm has announced a 3.5 percent like for like sales growth in the final quarter of the year.

The growth was in no small part due to a 43 percent increase in shoppers using its home delivery service, but was also boosted by the company's summer sale.

The retailer saw total sales grow to 822.7 million, an increase of 12.7 percent. It is expecting pre-tax profits of between 119 and 123 million, compared to 116 million the previous year.

Against this backdrop of improving sales, Dunelm has appointed a new chief finance officer. Currently bus and train operator Go-Ahead's Chief Finance Officer, Keith Down will join the company in December, replacing David Stead.

Dunelm opened four new superstores in quarter four, taking its total number of stores to 148.
