A bid by Iceland to stop people walking out with trolleys has outraged shoppers at one Stockport store.
Long metal poles attached to trolleys at the Woodley supermarket mean shoppers can no longer take them out of the store after what Iceland described as "unacceptable numbers" went missing.
While Iceland denies the move is anything to do with the introduction of charges for plastic bags, shoppers are not so sure. Many are angry they now have to carry heavy bags of shopping from store to car, rather than pushing them in a trolley.
Iceland, however, says staff are always happy to carry bags to cars for customers. The chain also stressed metal poles on trolleys are deployed only in a very small number of stores.
