Morrisons is trialling the use of bottle return vending machines in a bid to tackle plastic pollution.
Customers in Skipton and Lindsayfield will now be able to use the vending machines to return used plastic bottles of any brand as long as they have barcodes and Morrisons own brand bottles without a bar code.
As an incentive to return the plastic bottles, Morrisons is offering a coupon for 100 Morrison More points for every one returned, or customers can choose to donate 10p to Morrisons charity partner CLIC Sargent.
If the trial is successful, Morrisons intends to roll out the bottle return vending machines across its store estate. It said it would use the opportunity presented by the trial to listen to its customers and their experiences of its recycling initiatives.
