Sainsbury's has become the first supermarket to trial grocery deliveries by electric cargo bike.

The supermarket has announced it is partnering with to provide zero emission deliveries at its Streatham store in south London.

Five cargo bikes will be delivering the new service, taking up to 100 online orders a day to customers.

Sainsbury's will use routing software to decide when the bikes should be used.

The retailer is hoping the bikes could provide a more efficient way of getting groceries to its customers in big cities and plans to roll the service out across the country if the trial is successful.
